Welcome in Liverpool!!!!!

22 Sep

Welcome in Liverpool, the fourth most populous British city, a dynamic and full of interest city.

« Hey Jude », « Let it Be », « She Loves You » or « Help », it tells you something, of course, like the rest of the world. That’s good « four boys in the wind » that made the international reputation of this town in northern England.
In Liverpool, there is also the famous Liverpool Football Club and its rival, Everton and the Irish Sea that has made a major port on the right bank of the Mersey Estuary. The important maritime and industrial heritage, rich architecture and numerous museums and galleries in Liverpool have allowed him to hold the rank of European Capital of Culture in 2008. True melting pot of cultures, the city can satisfy all desires, all appetites as it is varied and vibrant day and night. Between heritage and pop culture, between tranquility and vibrant nightlife, Liverpool awaits you for an unforgettable language course.

Here, we imply you a few activies avaible in Liverpool :

-Anfield Stadium

Football is one of the city’s greatest passions. There are two big clubs in the city, but it’s those playing in red who enjoy most of the attention. Liverpool FC opens its Anfield Stadium to visitors during the day when no games are scheduled. Led by enthusiastic guides, the museum and stadium tour gives sports fans behind-the-scenes access to one of the best-known soccer clubs in the world. Walker Art Gallery Walker Art Gallery is a beautiful building housing a stunning collection of art. The galleries hold paintings from the 13th century to the present day: you can see work by Rembrandt, Hockney, Holbein, Turner, Lowry, Rossetti, Millais and Freud to name but a few. We also have a sculpture gallery, a craft and design gallery, and Big Art for Little Artists.

-The Beatles Story

The award winning Beatles Story is a unique visitor attraction that will transport you on an exciting and atmospheric journey into the life, times, culture and music of the Beatles. See how four young lads from Liverpool were propelled to the dizzy heights of worldwide fame and fortune to become the greatest band of all time. The Beatles Story is located across two sites. The first site situated at the Albert Dock includes the main Beatles Story exhibition, an interactive Discovery Zone, the Fab4Store and a Beatles-themed Starbucks Coffee house. The second site, situated a 10 minute walk away houses the Elvis and Us special exhibition, the Fab4D Experience, the Beatles Hidden Gallery, a second Fab4Store and the Imagine Liverpool Store. Our current special exhibition ‘Elvis and Us’ is presented by Graceland and The Beatles Story. The globally significant exhibition explores how The Fab Four were influenced by the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll and includes rare and exclusive artefacts, many of which have never before been exhibited publicly.

-Pier Head

It would be unthinkable to visit Liverpool and not see the river. The history of the city, whether honourable (transatlantic cruise liners, port of the Industrial Revolution, European emigration point for the Americas) or dishonourable (the most successful slave-trading port in the 18th century) is closely bound up with that of her river, the Mersey. Down at the Pier Head, which was a dock until around 1900, you will find the Three Graces, three buildings from the height of Liverpool’s prosperity at the turn of the 20th century. With your back to the river, these are, from right to left: the Port of Liverpool Building, the Cunard Building and the Liver Building. The interiors can only be visited on special heritage days but the facades are enough to remind us of a city that wanted everyone to know it was the second city of the British Empire. More recent activity has seen a new canal built infront of the buildings and the opening of the new Museum of Liverpool.

-Queensway Tunnel Tour

However, there is a lot more to the Tunnel than a “hole in the ground”! This tour takes you for a unique behind the scenes look at one of the ventilation stations, learning how they work and how the Tunnel itself was constructed. You will also see the Tunnel Control Room, where traffic flow, air quality and Tunnels system are monitored 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. They’ll take you beneath the City to see the Tunnel road surface and then further under the road surface into the depths! There are many steps to walk up and down during the tour and therefore it is not suitable for anybody with breathing or walking difficulties. Also unfortunately, only children over 10 years of age are allowed on the tour, with a maximum of two children per adult. Please note that the address given is their postal address, details of where the tour begins etc will be given at time of booking.
